I also experienced many strange issues with Information Analyzer on the 8.1.2 version and just gave up on the product. However, IBM now has a product from a company they acquired named InfoSphere Discovery and it looks much better. Maybe you can get Discovery instead?

I couldn't get the direct connect option to work either so I opened a PMR with IBM support and here is their response to me: I am following up on this PMR regarding configuration of CDC with datastage. As mentioned earliar in our replies that most of our customers are using CDC datastage through fla...

Sorry, my mistake. As long as you have the ORACLE_HOME path set correctly, CDC should find the archive log directory. We don't use Oracle RAC or ASM, but that could be the cause of the issues. According to the page 32 of the documentation: To integrate InfoSphere CDC into your RAC environment, you m...

I suggest upgrading to the DataDirect 6.0 drivers which are available on the IBM FixCentral web site. There are several known issues with the default DataDirect drivers in the 8.1 release when using SQL Server 2008.

From page 54 of the above documentation, these table types are UNSUPPORTED on Oracle: - Compressed - Indexed Organized Table(IOT) - Clustered You need to perform full table refreshes instead of mirroring on these table types. You can find your table type attributes with this query: select TABLE_NAME...

What version of CDC are you running? (6.3 or 6.5) The dmshowlogdependency command needs to be run on each subscription because the bookmarks are set on each subscription. It sounds like you might have multiple subscriptions and the 2:00 AM Friday failure just points you to the source. You need to ch...

but you need 8.5...the rest of us still suffer in silence. I would argue that DS 8.5 does not have version control, but merely "documentation control". There is no enforced check-out/check-in source locking mechanism. After the source is checked-out to a developer, someone else can still ...

You can find out more about this known issue by searching this web site: http://knowledgebase.datadirect.com/ There is an upgrade to the DataDirect 6.0 drivers available on the IBM FixCentral web site which will resolve ...

I've taken the IBM official practice test for the 000-421 DataStage 8.5 exam and it's worth the time, especially if you have never taken an IBM exam before. Here is the link to access the IBM official practice exam: http://www-03.ibm.com/certify/tests/sam421.shtml As Ray stated, it's an online exam ...

He might have meant ODIEE (Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition) and not OBIEE. Oracle Data Integrator is a direct competitor to DataStage in the ETL space.

According to the IBM stats they mentioned at IOD, 40 sites had beta tested the 8.5 release and at least one site is in production. It sounds like a pretty solid release. Has anyone found issues yet?

Here's the direct link: http://www-03.ibm.com/certify/tests/ovr421.shtml One interesting thing with the new test is there is a web-based assesment test that you can take before sitting for the actual exam. The web-based assessment is free for IOD attendees, all others must pay $10 dollars. I hope to...
