Change delimiter used for BCP IN by Sybase Enterprise Stage
When attempting to load a Sybase table using the Enetrprise Stage we find that it uses a pipe delimiter by default when performing the BCP IN. Our data contains pipes and this causes the job to fail so we'd like to modify the delimiter used. Is this possible? Also where are the Control and data file...

I wasn't aware of a relationship between compressed dsx = isx either but it makes sense considerin gthe file sizes produced. Currently use this method to take server side backups in our Prod and Dev environments and have tested restoration successfully. All in all a pretty good method and removes re...

User Administration
I'd like to know if there is a way to identify which DataStage projects a user has access to via some command line function rather than having to go through each project individually.

DataStage Job not aborting despite ORA-01652 error
We have discovered a issue with DataStage jobs when an "ORA-01652: unable to extend temp space" error occurs during a select statement. The issue is not regarding the Oracle error as it was found that the table statistics were stale rather it was that the DataStage job continued processing...

Try the syntax in this post.

I've used it and am getting routines exported. Are you familiar with the extensions assigned to different DS objects in ISX exports?

Search for information about dsexport command. Search also for information about istool command (IBM Information Server Manager) if you are running version 8.1 or later. dsexport is not suitable as it requires interaction. I've found some useful uses of istool however it's efficacy for project extr...

So is there a way to export a projects job designs only using command line? I couldn't find anyting despite a comprehensive look in manuals, dsxchange and Google. dscmdexport includes job executables as well and seeing as we are taking daily exports of over 50 projects we'd like to cut down on file ...

DataStage export types - pros and cons
My subject is mostly in relation to batch scheduling exports of DataStage projects. The 3 supported expot formats are dsx, xml and isx. I'd like to know if someone has done a comparison of these 3 methods and what the pros and cons of each are. I'm especially interested in how each would behave when...

Cannot find parameter file record DSParams in &UFD&
I created my userid in our environment a few weeks ago by adding myself to the 'DataStage and QualityStage User' role through Suite Admin and then adding myself as Operator for a project using Administrator. When trying to login I got these errors: DSR.ADMIN: Failed to add user to UV_USERS file. ACC...

Generate list of projects in an environment
Is there a way to get a project list in DS V8 via a client side command? We want to schedule daily backups of our Production and Development environments using client side tools. The scripts to perform this at a project level are done but to make it more efficient it would be good if the script can ...

Yes, that why our shop chose to use PBSPro (resources mangement) for our grid environment because it already has quite a few built-in features and it's very easy to customize for cost allocation/charge back. Another tool by the same company is GridWorks Analytics. Have you had any experience with t...

Cost Allocation Based on Usaqe in a Grid Environment
Hi all, This is more a business question rather than a technical question about DataStage. The company where I'm working at is looking at setting up DataStage 8.1 in a grid environment with a single head node and multiple compute nodes. It will be offered as a shared service to any business unit tha...
