DOS sort is a lot faster than DS Sort stage - not just that - DS sort failes ! when sorting huge Data (like 4GB). ...But DOS sort can't sort case-sensitive so if you're using DS aggregator stage after DOS sort and mark the sort order it'll fail on when encountering Unsorted charachters. Try using GN...

You can use MANAGER's 'Usage Analysis' (if you didn't alter the columns in your job after loading the columns from 'TABLE DEFINITION'
Or as suggested use a script for this (there are a couple 'round this forum)

If I remember correctly there's no DSENV on windows and you're on windows right ? The ORACLE environment is all in the registry (even ORACLE_HOME) I don't remember how 2 ORACLE clients can co-exist and function on the same client host . sometime the oracle client can be installed even on another rem...

I'm working with 7.1r1 in NT and using SAS odbc (With some limitations however - For instance can't create table) I believe that SAS Unix ODBC will work also with DS 7 (You know I'ts not supported and there may be a problem with the ODBC driver manager) Last - I you'll buy PX you'll be able to buy a...

every cd has an unsupported folder.
There you'll find a utility called something like HFR. It's a utility that generates a syntax for a specific command (MKDBFILE OR CREATE.FILE) for hash file creation that you can later use from your before job (OS or TCL)

I have to call some C api's (...And there's no way I'll be able to re-write it in Basic)
...but I have another idea - I'll check if Ascential is going to support the Clickpack any further and if so I think I can call Perl from within datastage (ClickPack) and there smoehow link this C api

If you go for 64bit you'll have to create the hash manually (mkdbfile .....64bit) and still won't be able to cache it (1GB LIMIT)
I'd go for a splitting algorithm

The best way to link a shared library to a DataStage job ?

Hi All, Can anyone recommend the best way to use shared libraries with DS on unix ? The only 2 ways I know are linking the .sl using GCI or developing my own stage to the call. What I don't know is the feasibility and complexity of each. I'm quite familiar with importing dll on windows DS and runing...

I didn't try to invent the wheel just to overcome an obstacle.
I did sent you a private message that elaborates about the issue.

Thanks,
